The company’s origins can be traced back to the 1930s when one of the early manufactures of positive displacement blowers located near Stonehouse was designing and supplying blowers, particularly to the gas industry.
Following major re-organisation, a team of engineers with many year’s experience in blower design and application formed Roots Systems in 1974 to meet the growing demands of the process industries. Based on original proven designs and with new innovative ideas the company was soon supplying blowers to many process industries and also to other markets such as waste water treatment and pneumatic conveying.
In June 1984 Roots Systems (aka Roots Blowers) was purchased by Rotolok Holdings Ltd and, whilst continuing to operate independently, now has the substantial financial backing of this large engineering group of companies.
Machining, fabrication and assembly is carried out by skilled personnel at the company’s plant at Stonehouse. Modern CNC machine tools produce components for the blowers and the packages are fabricated and assembled in up-to-date workshops. Equipment is designed and built to API and ASME codes where appropriate.
Inspection is present at all stages of manufacture. Testing facilities include, mechanical, performance, leak detection, vibration, noise and hydrostatic pressure.
As would be expected from a manufacturer supplying many leading companies worldwide, Roots Systems has established a rigorous quality assurance system in accordance with ISO 9001. Regular audits ensure that products supplied are of high quality and every blower is mechanically and performance tested before despatch
DESIGN & ENGINEERING
Qualified engineers design the blowers and packages using computer selection programs and the latest CAD technology. This ensures optimum selection of blowers and ancillary equipment and the prompt submission of correct documentation.
Since 1974 Roots Systems has been supplying blowers and vacuum pumps to many leading process companies and contractors worldwide. During this period Roots Systems has built up an unrivalled experience in the design and manufacture of blowers handling many different gases in a wide variety of applications and operating conditions.
Some of the gases handled include: Acid Vapours; Butane; Oxygen; Hydrocarbons; LPG; Propane; Hydrogen; Steam; Methane; Nitrogen; Chlorine; Carbon Dioxide; Natural Gas; VCM; Sulphur Dioxide.
