The Student Engineer will assist the Sales Team in data entry and data analysis tasks, as required. Whilst this is largely an administrative role, it requires someone who is numerate, shows attention to detail and understands basic engineering principles.

The main duties of the role are:

  • Maintaining and updating the company ‘Project Register’. This involves logging models, materials and operating conditions of equipment that has been despatched, correcting errors found in existing entries and researching missing data.
  • Bringing the Sales Team ‘Blower Packages’ list up to date. This involves logging the basic details of equipment that has been bid to customers.
  • Entering historical ‘slip’ test results into the test register, analysing the results and producing curves.
  • Entering noise test results into the test register.
  • Entering after-sales data into the sales register and producing charts to summarise trends.

You will need to be self-motivated with a desire to set high standards of work performance for yourself.  You will also have a positive outlook and ‘can do’ approach to tasks.

Being organised, accurate and having an eye for detail is essential in this role. As is having good communication, verbal and written skills.

Currently based in Stonehouse, the Company has grown over the past 10 years and will be moving to a larger and improved production facility in Gloucester in the next few months.

The Fabricator and Mig/Tig Welder is responsible for the fabrication and welding of light to medium gauge steel in line with the detailed engineering drawing provided, occasionally liaising with other departments of the fabrication shop to ensure the fabrication is to the standard required.

For this role candidates will need a Fabrication and Welding qualification or a time served apprenticeship. You will have experience of working in a fabrication environment (engineering or metal work).

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of Mig and Tig welding and fabrication especially with welding mild steel and stainless steel.

Candidates will have knowledge and an understanding of reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Read, interpret and follow engineering plans, drawings and instructions to ensure exact specifications of output
  • Fabricating work in various gauge metals (light to medium)
  • MIG welding (predominately mild steel)
  • Tig welding (predominately stainless steel)
  • Grinding/polishing fabricated items by using various handheld tools and/or dedicated material finishing machinery
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Ensure production times are met.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Maintain machinery and tools using preventative maintenance methods.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

You will need to be self-motivated with a desire to set high standards of work performance for yourself.  You will also have a positive outlook and ‘can do’ approach to tasks.

Currently based in Stonehouse, the Company has grown over the past 10 years and. during 2026 will be moving to a larger and improved production facility in Gloucester.

The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing the Quality Assurance aspects of the Quality Management System and driving improvements to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout all processes.

Our ideal candidate will have a HNC/HND or degree level of education preferably in Quality or Engineering.  You will also need a good understanding of Quality Management Systems ISO9001.

You will need to have knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and the ability to analyse, evaluate and problem solve.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Develop, implement, execute and monitor the Quality Assurance elements of Roots manufacturing processes to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded
  • Review and maintain QMS processes to ensure the Company complies with relevant standards and specifications
  • Monitor and advise on all quality matters, issues and concerns to ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements and good industry practice
  • Liaise with customers and supply chain, regarding quality matters, ensuring specification requirements are met
  • Develop and monitor Quality Control Plans and ensure compliance with Project Gates 1-4 quality elements
  • Manage lessons learned and share those lessons with team members
  • Resolve and/or escalate internal and external quality issues in a timely manner
  • Implement improvements where identified and appropriate
  • Ensure project level compliances are met and adhered to
  • Investigate quality issues/concerns and drive to root cause corrective actions
  • Advising and training colleagues on aspects of Quality Management.

For this role you will need to be solutions focussed, with an eye for accuracy and detail.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage a workload with competing priorities and frequent interruptions.

Candidates will need to self-motivated with a desire to set high standards of work performance for themselves and for others.
